The AASLD Foundation would like to extend a sincere thank you to our record number of 850 unique donors giving in Fiscal Year 2017, which ended on June 30th, 2017. These thoughtful contributions made a significant impact this past year, including:
- Contributing to the Foundation’s ability to fund more promising research and career development. The 2017 Research and Career Development Awards approved funding was $3.348 million for 2017 – an increase of $780,000 more funding than in 2016!
- Helping make possible to new Bridge Awards and Innovative Pilot Research Awards for 2018.
- Making possible a record number of travel awards and providing recipients with the career-shaping experience of participating in The Liver Meeting®.
- Enabling us to reach more frontline healthcare providers with the Fundamentals of Liver Disease (FOLD), our robust online curriculum designed to enhance knowledge and clinical skills in hepatology. This year, several major updates were accomplished and a new unit on NASH/NAFLD was released.
These all demonstrate the powerful role our donors play in funding new and innovative hepatology research – they are paving the way to a cure for liver disease.
This year, we have made it easy to donate when you register for The Liver Meeting®. On the day registration opened, generous donors gave $3,300 – helping to make three travel awards for this year’s meeting possible. You can also make a donation easily when you renew your AASLD member dues. Or, if you want to make an even bigger impact, you could choose an option to give monthly or annually – seamlessly – when you visit www.aasldfnd.org/donate.
In appreciation of our donors, we are pleased to offer special recognition benefits at The Liver Meeting®. Donors of $500+ enjoy VIP and donor lounge access, where they will find a quiet place to relax between sessions and be treated to complimentary refreshments. These donors also have the privilege of VIP preferred seating at the general session. Donors of $1,000+ will be invited to use Preferred Housing access for the meeting (for donations received before September 15th, on a space available basis). This housing category provides you with access to a dedicated block of sleeping rooms, at participating hotels. Please visit the registration page for more information or contact George Wieler, Development Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks for considering a donation to support research and career development!
